   7 The initial inspiration for LilyPond came ten years ago when two
   8 musician friends grew disappointed with the bland and boring look of
   9 computer formatted scores.  Every musician prefers to read beautiful
  10 music, so couldn't we programmers solve that printing problem?

  13 LilyPond just does that: it prints music in the best traditions of
  14 classical engraving with minimum fuss.  Don't waste time on tuning
  15 spacing, moving around symbols, or shaping slurs.  Impress friends and
  16 colleagues with sharp sheet music!
