For each species, we sequenced the entire coding region, although only the mature region is shown. The mature coding region of chimpanzee (Ptr), bonobo (Ppa) and the least derived gorilla allele (Ggo) were identical to the nucleotide, so are listed on one line; the same is true for other lines with more than one species abbreviation. Only in gorilla and orangutan did we find allelic differences (G. Maston and C.-B. S., in preparation); the less derived alleles are shown here.
