Unfortunatly, the 10G drive that it came with has been filled with various amounts of junk almost since I had the thing installed... originally I had left OS 9 on the thing, but as I almost exclusively use Debian these days, my original partitioning scheme was leaving me with little choice but to completely replace the drive. +[[!agimg 2004/03_march/powerbook_hd_replacement_20040304/006_old_harddrive_going_into_fw_enclosure_20040304.jpg ]] I recently had to do a wee bit of hard drive replacement surgery on my venerable powerbook g4 400MHz which has served me well for quite some time. Unfortunatly, it took a bit for the FW enclosure to get drop shipped from whoever made the silly thing, and so I was sitting staring at a nice 30G drive with no way to install it. The installation went pretty smoothly, and as I type this, the drive is purring away inside the laptop. It's way quieter than the previous drive (even though I thought the previous drive was really quiet compared to the others I've used previously.) \ No newline at end of file +[[!agimg 2004/03_march/powerbook_hd_replacement_20040304/001_powerbook_hd_out_20040304.jpg ]] I settled on a 30G Hitachi drive (used to be IBM) which I had shipped to me along with a FW enclosure so I could easily dd the data back and forth from the current drive to the it's replacement. Unfortunatly, the sound system in the main room was really crappy. Bad balance between the tables and the MC's, no real base definition, and definetly no volume. However, the sound system downstairs was out of control, and definetly banging. Granted it was a little bit boomy because it was in a solid brick wall basement backed by soil, and it could have used a few heavy base traps hidden throughout, it was still much better than upstairs. -People were dancing their legs off most of the night to DJ Mighty, Owen the Soyboy, Richie, and quite a few others. Track selection was on tip, although a few times the mixes got a bit rough. But who cares? I danced, and had a great time.[gallery://parties_clubs/2003/february/jungle_bums_02222003/dancefloor_at_junglebums_3_02222003.jpg] +People were dancing their legs off most of the night to DJ Mighty, Owen the Soyboy, Richie, and quite a few others.
