3 Adapted from How to Cook Everything: The Basics by Mark Bittman
9 + 4 med garlic cloves, peeled and end cut off
10 + 3 1/2 c cooked chickpeas, cooking liquid reserved (2 15-oz can chickpeas, canning liquid reserved)
11 + 1/4 c chickpea cooking (or canning) liquid
17 + 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
21 + Place garlic in food processor with blade attachment and pulse food procesor until garlic is chopped.
22 + Add all other ingredients to food processor and run until hummus is completely combined and smooth.
